For mai, there was definitely a moment in "the headband". she and zuko are making out and azula makes an excuse to have a one on one talk with zuko. as mai walks by azula, she gives her a look and there is a musical sting. for ty lee, i think the way she is first recruited by azula to join her is enough for me to know that she is doing this for. Azula went crazy after mai and ty lee betrayed her at the boiling rock (notice how she got super paranoid after that and unhappy). that betrayal and paranoia led to her going crazy. she’s obsessed with perfection and being the best. her father gave her fire lord but only after he made a higher title.
