Brede Steam Giants Visit 1066 Country A museum of water heritage pumping machinery, mainly from the steam era. the collection comprises examples of triple expansion and compound steam pumps dating from 1889 and all capable of being demonstrated currently by compressed air, but ultimately under steam power. the original tall engine houses (now listed) and dating from 1904 and 1940. The society has become the home of the brede steam giants. they are huge 35 feet (10.7 m) high water pumping engines that were capable of delivering up to 3.5 million gallons of drinking water every day to the growing town of hastings. additionally you can see these engines, and many different water pumps in operation during our public open.
