House Plant Care Vlog 150 Plants New Rare Plants Pest Prevention I’m officially a plant mom! i just purchased my first real indoor plants from a local garden center in town. i purchased smaller low maintenance plants since. Think gritty, like a beach vacation for your potted pals. orchids: say yes to bark based mixes. they crave open air roots vibes. tropical plants: go for peat based mixes; they love to stay moist, like a tropical rainforest. vegetables and herbs: look for rich, nutrient packed mixes that cater to these hungry champs. Step 1: trim off any roots growing out of the bottom of the pot – use sterile bonsai shears or precision pruners to prune off any roots that are coming out of the drainage holes. step 2: remove the small surface roots – use a sharp kitchen or garden knife to trim off the small surface roots around the rootball. Add the plant to the new pot. first, add a few inches of soil to the bottom of the pot. then, place the plant into the pot and add soil around it and on top. if the plant is large you may need one person to hold it in place while another adds the soil. for very large plants, water very lightly when the pot is half full of soil before continuing.
