Shu was aware he could die from re injecting the void genome back into his body, yet he did so anyway since he needed the power to go and rescue inori. shu then went on a suicide mission to save inori and willingly chose to die with her once he saw the sad state she was in. inori was blind and half dead during the end.

Guilty Crown Inori And Shu Chibi In the end gai went to mana's traumatized body before the lost christmas event to be with her to save shu's sister but they both died. however, since shu was absorbing all the voids he took gai's void power, his king power. eve represents the potential to create a new world. shu could have created a new world but with mana's body gone there was. The official theory states that shu uses his and guy's power to absorb all the crystallization and voids in the world, and thus becomes crystallized himself. he has a vision of inori giving him a crossed thread, possibly the "guilty crown" and shu accepts it. this causes inori and shu to switch their places, causing inori to get crystallized. Humanity was created as equals and individuals who possess such powers caused an unbalance resulting in the problems the world “guilty crown” resided in to chaos. through the ultimate sacrifice between the main protagonist (s) shu and inori resolved the conflict and suffering as many people can return live peaceful lives from the threat of. The sad part is that she sacrificed herself for shu. and whether the person dies or not, sacrifices are always sad. especially given that shu was ready to die, but inori saved him. i think the bittersweet ending is part of what makes me like guilty crown a lot though, since i don't think i've seen many anime that end in this direction.
