On my 04 250 sx, i did top ends after 120 and about 250 hours and both times the piston and rings were in great shape, but the pv needed cleaning (may not be the case with some oils). that bike was used more mostly desert racing. for trailriding on a ktm 250, i wouldn't bother looking at it before 100 hours.

Those are hard to find, but if you do, buy it. prices tend to be a little high for used ktm two strokes, but you’ll get it all back at resale time. *. *. 3. yamaha yz250, 2005 & later. yamaha already had the best japanese 250 two stroke when the other companies got out of the business.
