The Meat Lovers Dream Fat Matt S Rib Shack In Atl We were tired, starved, and lucky that fat matt’s rib shack was open until 11:00 pm. as an added plus, it’s right around the corner from where we were staying. fat matt’s also features live blues every night, but we were just a little late to catch it; the band was packing its gear as we were ordering. My husband and i drove from savannah to atlanta (05 21 2022) saturday to celebrate our (32nd) wedding anniversary the next day. our very first stop was to have lunch at fat matt’s rib shack. we excitedly remembered from the past that the food was absolutely delicious therefore, before driving on (40) minutes to lithonia to our hotel.

The Meat Lovers Dream Fat Matt S Rib Shack In Atl Fat matt's rib shack is a local favorite for bbq, known for its delicious and flavorful ribs with a tangy sauce. the restaurant has a great vibe and offers excellent customer service. meals are generously sized and satisfying, with the ribs being a standout dish. prices are steeper than some may expect, but the food's quality makes it worthwhile. The ribs are large, tender, and meaty and delicious.the sauce is great not too sweet, not too acid, and not too spicy. the brunswick stew is great. other restaurants frequently have too little meat, too much tomato vinegar acid, and too little corn and mediocre flavor. fat matt's brunswick stew is good enough to be an entree instead of a side. The menu is limited but to the point: slabs of ribs, rib “sandwiches” (three ribs and two slices of white bread), rum spiked baked beans (specialty of the house), chopped pork sandwiches, georgia style brunswick stew, barbecued chicken, sweet potato or pecan pie, lemonade, sweet tea, and, of course, beer. trust this reviewer, one doesn’t. Fat matt’s rib shack is one of those must visit places in the city, like the coke museum or the varsity. in his visit to atlanta in the layover, anthony bourdain started his trip here, and acknowledged that to “food nerds and bbq snobs” what fat matt’s serves isn’t what they’d call real bbq.
