Retro Review The Mk5 Volkswagen Golf R32 Reviews 2024 Top Gea Top gear's jeremy clarkson, with a wonderfully clarksonish review of the new r32: volkswagen golf r32 by jeremy clarkson of the sunday times not very green, but very good it was sheikh yamani, the former boss of opec, who pointed out that the stone age didn’t end because the world ran out of stone. nor did the iron age end because we ran. Re: vw golf .:r32 review just read this « reply #12 on: may 22, 2009, 04:15:08 pm » whilst i'm a big clarkson fan, i've now read all of his books, and i find him entertaining, but highly inconsistent in his opinions. The golf’s last rasp with vw’s characterful, narrow angle v6, the mk5 r32 has all the makings of a stone cold future classic. while the gti is rightly celebrated as creating the template for the modern hot hatch, the r range has also, in its own way, been hugely influential. the mk3 vr6 established proof of concept for six cylinder golfs. The r32 is based on the not too shabby v6 4motion, has a twin cam v6 bored and stroked out to 3189cc, has a completely redesigned intake system, continuous adjustment for the intake and exhaust.

Like the previous generation r32, the mk5 came with a haldex four wheel drive system and all of the top of the line features that one would expect from volkswagen’s flagship golf. to help tame the powerful engine, the r32 mk5 came with larger 345 mm (13.58 inch) discs at the front and 310 mm (12.2 inch) discs at the rear that were clamped by. The wolfsburg built r32 is, on paper, a nice bit of kit. powered by the sweet little 3189cc 15 degree vr6 and driven with vw's 4motion awd drivetrain, it's good for 184kw at a stratospheric 6300rpm (redline is 6500rpm), and 320nm of twist at a high ish 4000 4500rpm. pushing along 1510kg of hatch 1530kg if you've opted for the four dour.
