Two People Who Can T Smell Talk About Anosmia Is It A Disability For smellers, this sense is constantly, subconsciously running in the background. i live with fewer senses than most people. i have congenital anosmia, which means i was born without a sense of smell. i haven’t been able to smell my entire life. i’ve understood i am unable to smell for essentially my entire life, yet i “try” to smell. My opinion is, technically, yes, i consider it being a disability, if you're born without or lose any other sense be deaf or blind it is considered a disability. but there is no way you can compare it to being mentally or physically disabled. so yes but most definitely no. no, but it is inconvenient at times. Advertisement. anosmia awareness day is an annual celebration which started in 2012 and is held on february 27th each year with the goal to raise awareness that some people live without a sense of smell. i choose to celebrate anosmia awareness day each year so that other people living with smell dysfunction know that they are not alone. Anosmia puts us in constant danger all the time as it is, to a degree the people who can smell don't talk about to us because that's just life to them. we are blissfully unaware of it because they take for granted they would know if there were a problem like a gas leak.
